Lorena School of Engineering from University of São Paulo (EEL USP) has one position open for a FAPESP Postdoctoral Fellowship, linked to the FAPESP Thematic Project “Biotechnological platform for sustainable and integrated production of biomolecules from sugarcane biomass using yeasts from Antarctica”.

The research focuses on the use of yeasts isolated from Antarctica to produce carotenoids, using lignocellulosic hydrolysates from sugarcane bagasse and straw, within a circular bioeconomy approach.

The activities will be carried out at the Biotechnology Department of EEL-USP, at Lorena (São Paulo, Brazil), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Maria das Graças de Almeida Felipe.

Those selected will receive a grant of R$ 12,000.00 per month and a Technical Reserve equivalent to 10% of the annual grant amount, for a period of 24 months.

  • Prerequisite: PhD in Biotechnology or related areas, with desirable experience in obtaining products from yeasts, treating lignocellulosic biomass and using hydrolysates. It is essential to have a leadership profile and the autonomy to guide undergraduate and postgraduate students. The project involves international collaboration, so an advanced command of English is required.
